I regard the wiper and the surface being wiped as a system. Or, perhaps it has something to do with windshield or wiper arm design - two of the vehicles were Volvo 850s and one an XC60. It could be ozone which is historically relatively high in my area, but my friends do not seem to go through wiper blades as fast as I do, but they do not have Volvos - I think I'm just overly picky about desiring the perfect wipe so I can see as clearly as possible, especially at night in the rain or mist. The vehicles are kept in the garage when not driving so excessive sun (UV) exposure is probably not the cause. I've also had trouble with blade chatter on some of the cheaper blades but not the Bosch or Volvo OEM (also made by Bosch I believe). The Bosch Icons and Volvo OEMs seem to last a bit longer than most but never more than 6 months. I have used multiple sets of many different wiper blade brands on my last three vehicles (about 50 vehicle-years of driving). Though, evolutions are very good as well. I don't know what to tell you other than to see how long your Icons last, as in a perfect world with price as no object, I'd always go with icons. Also, I wash them with regular car soap as I wash cars by hand. I've put them on cars kept outdoors and garage kept and they usually last 3 years before they start drying out and becoming a problem. Bosch Icons (I believe) are Bosch's premium line. I'm honestly perplexed why you are cycling through so many blades. I drive about 1000 miles/month and only a fraction of that is in the rain, mid-Atlantic region not near the ocean. I try to keep the blades clean, wiping with dish detergent if I pick up diesel fumes or oil from road splatter. Bosch Icon seems to be the best I've tried so far. I've never been able to get more than about 6 months before the blades begin to streak so bad that night driving in mist or rain becomes intolerable - pretty much no matter what brand blades I use and I've tried most of them over many years. I am amazed by those who report 1 to 3 years wiper blade life.
